"While at WSU, I found myself in an informational meeting that would change my life for the better. I joined Gamma because of what it stood for and for what it could do for me. In a matter of days, I was able to form bonds and officially found myself with a family unlike no other. The five pillars for which GAO stands for are strong and are qualities that I find valuable and important to posses. Joining GAO has been one of the most significant decisions I have ever made and am proud of being a member of such a wonderful sisterhood. GAO has made me a strong Latina Woman and has given me the opportunity to expand my knowledge on my culture as well as others. "

"I'm originally from Michoacan, Mexico but have lived most of my life in East Wenatchee, Washington. Being the first member in my family to attend college, I felt I had a lot of pressure to be successful. When I first found out about Gamma Alpha Omega, I didn't know anything about sororities. As I researched more about Gamma I was attracted to the community service. I liked the thought of giving back to the community. Gamma also provided academic support and positive role models. Furthermore, it has assisted me in getting closer to my culture and learning about other's traditions. In these past years as an active member of the Distinguished Delta Chapter, I have gained leadership skill and friendships that I will forever treasure. Gamma Alpha Omega has become my family away from home."

"Since I came to WSU, I sought an opportunity to join an organization which understood my needs as a "Mujer Latina." Although the Chicano Latino Center offered certain opportunities, it was not until my last year at WSU I heard of a new organization that sounded promising and seemed to target all my needs. As I learned more about Gamma Alpha Omega, I realized, this organization provided not only what I sought for, but opened my eyes to even greater needs, as a part of a community. The basic principles of Honesty, Integrity, Leadership, Scholarship, and Unity are the most powerful combination of tools to assist a community in need. Although most organizations focused on assisting the community, none had acquired such combination of values to integrate into my life, to offer the community. New generations come each year to a community that is predominantly, Anglo; I was faced with that fact and did not know where or who to turn to. Now, new generations have a new door to open, a place to find comfort, a place that will present challenges, a place to grow, a place to find long lasting friendships, and a place to find a family. "

"I thank God for the day that Gamma crossed my path in life. I am a strong believer that "Everything Happens for a Reason" and I strongly believe that I was destined to be a sister of Gamma Alpha Omega. The pillars of Honesty, Integrity, Leadership, Scholarship, and Unity and the vision of Gamma is something that I live and stand by, and becoming a sister was the only logical choice to continue incorporating this into my life. I can honestly say, without hesitation, that it is because of Gamma and the wonderful sisters I had that supported me and encouraged me to stay in school and achieve my goal of earning my Bachelor's Degree in Advertising. I thank Gamma for bringing each and everyone of my sisters into my life. Becoming a sister of GAO is one of the best choices I have made in life. Gamma means so much to me, so for all my sisters of GAO, now and in the future...keep the vision alive!"

"I can honestly say that when I first came to WSU, I told myself I would never join a sorority. Well, all of that changed when I heard about Gamma. I went to one of their informational meetings and after that I had talked to some of the members. I remember a long conversation I had with Veronica Mendez, one of our founding mothers. She talked about Gamma with such pride. That's when I decided that Gamma was for me. I liked everything it stood for and the sisterhood that these girls showed me. I became a member of Gamma on December 5, 1998 a day I will never forget. To my line sisters--I love you all and we did it together. To this day there is nothing that I wouldn't do for any one of my sisters if they need something. I will be there for them now and always. I love you all."

"My freshman and sophomore year at WSU we pretty boring and I was looking into transferring to the University of Washington. My mentor, through the WSU Chicano(a)/Latino(a) Student Center, Mareth Flores (a Delta Chapter Founding Mother) told me about GAO and invited me to an informational meeting. I then pledged the Fall semester of 1998. Pledging GAO was the best decision I made while in college. GAO's pillars, the bonding experienced during the pledge process and the community service are some of the many reasons that attracted me to the sorority. I've gained so many beautiful sisters (which I've always wanted since only growing up with an older brother) and am happy to have found an organization to be a part of for the rest of my life!!!"
