Hello, I am a sophomore in college. As of now I don’t have a decided major. I joined Gamma Alpha Omega to become involved with the school activities. I saw how sophisticated and elegant the ladies were and that is where I wanted to be. They were mature and carried themselves with confidence. Of course I did not expect to work as hard as I did because I didn’t quite know what Gamma Alpha Omega was all about. But after the process I learned that it was so much more than just being able to wear your letters and show off your jacket. It meant dedicating the rest of my life to my sisters. I love this organization and plan to dedicate all the time permitted to keep Gamma Alpha Omega strong.

When I first came to WSU in the fall of 2007, I always saw many Greek organizations promoting their particular organization, but I always told myself that going Greek was probably something I was not going to do. When I came back to Pullman in the fall of 2008, I attended Gamma Galore week and I really liked what I saw. I found out that Gamma Alpha Omega was right for me. Everyone that spoke about Gamma Alpha Omega inspired me to pledge because they showed me how much they loved this organization and how important it was to them. I wanted to be a part of something big and I truly believe that being a part of Gamma Alpha Omega will help me change the world while helping me grow as an individual. The values of this organization are something that I strongly believe in and something that I will strive to employ everyday. I love my sisters very much and know they will be there for me as I will be there for them whenever they need me. I really look forward to helping this organization to the best of my ability and am very excited to see what the future will bring!

“Education and family is what I value the most.  As I freshman I never really knew what to expect from Greek organizations or knew what they were all about, I was afraid to explore the unknown.  A year passed and I met members of many Greek organizations but the one that really caught my attention was Gamma Alpha Omega.  Although they were only a couple I noticed their passion and commitment to help the community.  They represented themselves professionally but at the same time were humble and showed their sisterly love.  It was exactly what I had been looking for and I was excited to become a member from the very beginning.  As a sister I will make it my duty to pave the way to success for other young women just as mine was paved by the angels of Gamma Alpha Omega. Everyday I grow as a person, emotionally, and spiritually but Gamma Alpha Omega is growing passionately.  The more I know and take part in the values the more I fall in love with it.  Remember sister’s with love and passion nothing is impossible.”

“Washington State University became my second home, but my family was missing, so I finally decided to finish what I had started my first year at WSU—I decided to be part of the amazing and Distinguished Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority. Along with the organization I found a great family of sisters and a strong foundation. I found women of high morals and beliefs, I found strong women who lead others and loved to do service…I found myself becoming more passionate about being part of this sisterhood and a member of this prestigious sorority. From the bottom of my heart I have to say that I am very happy and excited to grow strong  and make this sorority the best one in the nation.”

"As I was acquainting myself with the lovely ladies of the Sorority, I immediately realized that I could be myself and not have to walk on eggshells. This sparked my interest and led me to become further educated on all that Gamma Alpha Omega offered. The things that really amazed me were how each of the ladies carried themselves (not only with each other but with other people), how close they were to one another, and the pride/ esprit de corps that they felt towards their organization and their community. Being a part of the Buddy Program showed me how determined and dedicated these ladies were to improving their lives and also improving the lives of people within their community. I got to witness firsthand that they were not only members of the same organization but that they were truly “sisters” and were working hard to strengthen their bond so that they could be the best that they could be. All the volunteer work, community service, etc that they do is not just done because they have do; it’s done because they really want to give back to their community. The day I became a Gamma, was one of the best days of my life. It has opened so many doors for me and taught me so many things about myself and my culture. Now that I’m in the sorority, I am fully aware of everything it has to offer and would go through the whole process all over again if I had to. And to the ladies of the Xi Class—SFD, we did it!

When I arrived to WSU, joining a non-traditional sorority had never crossed my mind, in fact I didn’t even know they existed. My first weekend at WSU I was introduced to some of the ladies of GAO. They made me feel welcome in a place where I hardly knew anybody so I figured why not look into the organization more and as I did, I learned that the ladies weren’t just a social organization, but also an organization that cared about their community and giving back in any way they could. Not just that though, I loved the way the ladies carried themselves with such confidence and they took such pride in their organization. I could tell it was something they truly believed in and cared about. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the pledge process, but I came out of it a stronger person and am truly glad I decided to go through it. I have gained a better understanding and determination of my future goals, gained confidence within myself, and a great love and pride to be a sister of GAO. I love my organization and my sisters and I’m excited to see what comes next.

Coming to Washington State University after having a baby was a very difficult decision for me. I came here with the goal to create a better life for myself and my family. When I met the Distiguished Damas of GAO they made me feel welcome on this campus. I learned more about the sorority and saw the passion in which they talked about and it was something that I wanted for myself as well.  I believe that becoming a member of Gamma Alpha Omega has made me a stronger person, and throughout this process I have grown and have established an everlasting bond with my line sisters that will continue beyond college. I have a support system to lean on when life gets hard and to celebrate my accomplishments with. Through becoming a Gamma Alpha Omega member I have joined a family a home away from home that encourages me to succeed academically, and serves the community.
