We are not surprised to know that our October Sister of the Month is our very own President, Ms. Lisette Martinez. Lisette is a member of our Delta Chapter Xi Class as Luminosa #1. She has done a stellar job as President, Treasurer and Finance Chair this semester. As a Sophmore at WSU and a member of the United Greek Council she is a very busy Gamma. She recently spend many hours in preparing for the CASHE conference and making sure things were running smoothly. Thank You Lisette for your dedication and love for Gamma!
Q. What is your favorite holiday, and why?
Hmmm….tough one. I would have to say my favorite holiday would be Thanksgiving because it brings families together to be thankful for everything they have together. Oh and there’s food. Lots and lots of food. =)

Q. What have you learned from Gamma that you know you will use after you graduate?
I have learned that not everything goes as smooth and as easily as you would like, but you have to take criticism and failure with a grain of salt and do the best you can to fix it or do better the next time.

Q. What is your major and why did you choose it?
I’m double majoring in Apparel Design and Merchandising. I chose apparel design because I’ve always been a creative person and to be able to create something different everyday and have someone wear your work of art is just awesome to me. The Merchandising fulfills the business aspect of my life. I’ve always been good with money and math, so this gives me the opportunity to be able to sell my own line when I create it.

Q. If you could go back in time and change one thing, would you take the opportunity and if so, what is the one thing you would change? Why?
Part of me would go back just to change my attitude about school, do much better than I did, and go straight into college. But part of me wouldn’t because I wouldn’t have had this experience with Marquita, the girls in Gamma and my friends I have now and they are a big part of my life since I got here and I don’t know if I could give that up.

Q. Who is your favorite singer at the moment, and why?
This is a hard one because I’m such a music lover. I have so many favorites, but if I had to pick just one, it would have to be my girl Brandi Carlile. It’s been fun watching her grow up. I’m so proud of her and how far she’s gone from just the little shed in the back of her band mate’s backyard, and still remaining grounded.

Q. If you had more time to do anything, what would you do and why?
If I had more time to sleep, I would love it. Nothing is more comfortable, safer, or more relaxing than just sleeping and chilling in my bed. =)

Q. What was your favorite childhood cartoon?
I’m so gonna age myself with this question. My favorite Saturday cartoon was the X-Men. Some of you are gonna say oh that’s not that old. I’m talking the original X-Men with Kitty Pride. She was my favorite X-Men, next to Wolverine.

Q. What has been your most memorable vacation and where was it to?
My most memorable vacation was this summer in Puerto Rico with Marquita, Maria, and Eva. That was the best vacation ever. Thanks ladies for making Puerto Rico such an adventure.

Q. What are your favorite colors?
I’d have to go with purple, green, and red (It’s my power color!!).

My avorite quote by Marianne Williamson:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous.
Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us -- it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others
